Their unique fusion of Estonian and Welsh musical cultures has created a timeless and haunting new music from the ancient edges of Europe . Klapp are the inheritors of the dance music traditions of Setumaa ( South Eastern Estonia ) Infusing the grand old traditions with refreshing originality, they create an experience which is deeply moving and irresistibly danceable.
Sild and Klapp appear as part of the Wales Estonia Festival 2008.

“Sild were one of the finds of the Festival: fascinating material, esquisite artistry – and real human warmth too “ Tim Healy , Oxford Folk Festival.

Martin Leamon and Sille Ilves formed their unique Welsh – Estonian collaboration shortly after the 2001 Viljandi Folkmusic Festival. Since then they have developed a truly original fusion of two different musical cultures, rooted in tradition yet thoroughly modern, they create timeless music.

Protected only by the rugged landscape surrounding her isolated cottage in the South Wales’ valleys. Megan is left alone with her baby and a broken plough, when her husband goes off to fight in the Great War.

Through the harshest of times this feisty young woman does what she must to survive the dark reality of her harsh existence.

When a desperate young conscientious objector turns up at the cottage seeking refuge, Megan sees an opportunity which can benefit them both, and disguises him as Mary Ann, her cousin from Cardiff. Drawn together by daily toil and isolation they become close, but no-one could forsee the difficulties which will unfold when her husband returns unexpectedly from the front.
